Blue on white china is classic all the way, a perennial favorite. In the summer it makes the basis for a crisp, clean table setting, reminiscent of a breezy summer sky or salty sea shore. Mix this dinnerware with winter colors and create lively tabletop, warming your indoor decor when cold weather reigns outdoors.

Light pastels shades or baby blue make for a romantic or feminine table setting. Navy and cobalt tones are bold, and the white background emphasizes them. Use these colors for a dramatic or traditional setting.

Motifs range from simple blue bands at the rim to intricately detailed designs. Tones of blue are easy to mix, and the patterns can easily coordinate with your other dinnerware sets. Pick a theme, such as floral, seashore or retro, and create an eclectic table setting, just like painting with dishes.

Dinnerware makers have created something for everyone in a blue and white palette. Many of these favorite patterns are casual, while others can dress up or down, depending on the occasion. Almost any other color, as well as silver or gold, can go with blue and white.

Some of our favorite patterns:

  • Maitre d’ by Oneida
  • Catalina by Crate & Barrel
  • Brasserie Blue by Williams Sonoma
  • Allegro by Dansk
  • Running Free by Noritake
  • Cafe Blue in Corelle by Corning
  • Americana by Nikko
  • Indigo Moon by Japan China
  • Baltic by Adams

Some of these patterns are vintage, while others are more recently manufactured. New patterns in blue and white debut every year, because this color combination is so popular. When you set your table with classic dinnerware, it never goes out of style.

Have you ever been on a flight that crosses an ocean? The time can be very hard spent, especially if you are not prepared for all the possibilities of the flight. I know that on a recent flight from the USA to England I was prepared in the ways that I’m about to tell you. It helped to make the flight go along as smoothly as possible, at least in ways that I had control over, and the time that I spent on the flight was at times relaxing and at other times was productive. Here are some tips to help you with your overseas flight.

1. Prepare Your Bag well – There are things that you should carry on with you in a smaller bag that you can keep at your seat. These should include some good noise canceling headphones, a pad and pencil in case you have a thought that you need to remember, spare batteries for your headset, a crossword puzzle book and a book to read.

2. Pack an Extra Seat – Sitting for hours and hours can be hard on the backside. Make sure that you have an extra seat packet (or use an airplane pillow if you forget). Starting your trip with a sore backside is no way to go.

3. Book an Extra Seat – If you are traveling with someone else try booking your seats one apart from each other. Sometimes the seat in between the two of you will not be filled and you will have a little more elbow room.

Just keep these few things in mind and you will make your flight experience a more pleasant one. Don’t overlook the power naps that can be taken to help you be fresher when you arrive. That way you will have a smoother transition with your flight lands.

On A Hot Air Balloon Ride

On A Hot Air Balloon Ride

Barcelona is one of the most interesting and beautiful cities on Earth. Luckily, there are dozens of tours you can take to get the most out of your trip to Barcelona, whether you’re there for a week or a single day.

One of the best ways to see Barcelona if you’re only stopping there for a day is to take an eight-hour sightseeing tour. These tours allow you to spend an entire morning and afternoon exploring the highlights of Barcelona, from the mountains to the famous buildings. A Barcelona day tour usually includes a walk through the Plaza de Catalunya, which is the center of the city, known for its statues and beautiful fountains. Next, stop by the Gothic Quarter to view the historic 15th century buildings like the Barcelona Cathedral. Also, a one-day tour isn’t complete without a stop by the Plaza Sant Jaume, the location of all of Barcelona’s government buildings. You’ll get the chance to see so much on a one day tour, including the Villa Olimpica, which is home to Olympic athletes, and the Port Olimpic that you can tour on foot. The tour will include a climb up Montjuich Mountain, giving you an amazing and memorable view of the city and Barcelona’s harbor. This is just what you’ll see before lunch! The tour will include many more memorable sights like the Monumental Bull Ring and the well-known Cathedral Sta Maria del Mar. A one day Barcelona tour will usually conclude at the Picasso Museum.

One of the most exciting ways to get a feel of the culture in Barcelona is to try an affordable tapas walking tour. These tours combine the culture and wonderful cuisine, taking you on a fun tour of the famous tapas bars in Barcelona. The tour will teach you how to order tapas and is the best way to begin a visit to the historic city. A walking tapas tour will usually only take three hours and is completely guided, allowing you to see the famous La Bouqueria market and enjoy wine and some of the best tapas in Barcelona.

If you love an active lifestyle, consider a half-day bicycle tour of the city, which allows you to socialize with others and get an exciting view of Barcelona. These tours are perfect for visitors of all ages and can even be a great way to see the city with your entire family. You’ll ride at a relaxed speed over no hills, with stops made frequently at points of interest. The tour lasts four hours and covers plenty of ground, giving you a different view of Barcelona than you’ll get on a traditional tour.

An affordable and unique tour of Barcelona is the sailing cruise, which allows you to get great views of the city from the sea as you sail up and down the coast. The tour lasts two hours and gives you a wonderful picturesque view of the Cathedral, the Olympic Marina and more. Taking a sail boat and giving yourself a tour of Barcelona’s coast is an exciting adventure that you won’t regret.

Lastly, there’s the ultimate in adventurous tours: the hot air balloon tour over the city. These tours can be a few hundred dollars but offer the best way to see Barcelona and its outlying areas. You’ll enjoy a relaxing float above the city for 1-2 hours, taking in the panoramic views of the mountains, the Mediterranean Sea and Barcelona itself.

There are literally dozens of different tours you can take to enjoy your visit to Barcelona. The great thing is there’s one to suit anyone’s personality and tastes, allowing you to even create a custom tour for you and your party. Booking a tour in Barcelona is a great idea not just for first time visitors but those that have been to the city a hundred times; you’re bound to see or hear something new each time.

things you want to do before you’re thirty?

i got this from mandy moore. what are the things you want to do before you’re 30? i mean, when you’re already 30, the need to be liberal is already lessening. so while you’re still young, what would you want to do? i would suggest the things you CAN do but are afraid to do, because if you had done that in the future, it gives you a little bit of achievement and self-confidence.

i suggest you try doing lists like this. you’re only young once!

here are a few of mine:
1. go skydiving
2. visit prague in czech
3. kiss peter wentz
4. [it could be as ridiculous as...] go around the great wall of china in a bicycle [...becos u never know!]
5. ride a hotair balloon

there are a lot of others, these are just ideas for you to get started on yours! have fun :)

Okay, I’m 34 but here’s a list of the things I DID do before I turned 30. (cause you’re right, do them while you can and are still able!) None of these are made up, I’ve been REALLY REALLY blessed to have been able to live out some of my dreams.

1. Toured the United States singing (I really did!)
2. Performed as a singer at the Olympics (1996, Atlanta)
3. Lived overseas (2 years in Korea performing. LOVED it!)
4. Traveled overseas. (spent a month in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Italy. Again, as a singer)
5. Went to Disney World AND Disney Land
6. Swam in the ocean (I’m from Missouri)
7. Went wild and partied my tushy off until I got it all out of my system
8. Changed careers
9. Paid off all my debts
10. Married (just before I turned 30) the man of my dreams, started a family and happily settled down.
