1)what is the pressure at a) A depth of 10m in a water tank b) A depth of 10m in a tank filled with mercury(mercury is approx 10 times denser than water
2) A hot air balloon has a mass of 400kg including the basket. the hot air inside the balloon weighs 17000N. determine the maximum load that the balloon is able to lift if it displaces 25000N of cold air
1 . a) Hydrostatic pressure at a depth of h is given by P = ρ g h
ρ is the density of water.
b) Density of mercury is 10 time larger as you said .So the pressure is also 10 time that for water at the same depth.
2) The upthrust is equal to the weight of cold air displaced. 25000 N The maximum load that the balloon can lift including the weight of the balloon and contents is 25000 N
The additional weight it can lift is 25000 – (17000 + 400 x 9.8) = 4080 N = 416.3 kg
Here is a guide to some of the best Luxury hotels Turkey has to offer. Wherever you choose to stay, there will be a five star hotel that is perfect for you.
If you are intent on taking a holiday in Turkey, you’ll face the difficult task of choosing where to go. City break or beach holiday? Mountain retreat or a gulet cruise down the coast? One thing that each of the destinations has in common is the quality of the accommodation on offer. From grand five star resort hotels to intimate boutique hotels and private villas, there is an embarrassment of luxurious places to stay. If you’re looking for inspiration, listed below are five of the best luxury hotels Turkey has to offer in a variety of different resorts and cities.
Kalkan
One of the most picturesque and unspoilt Turkish resorts, Kalkan is home to some of the truly great luxury hotels of Turkey. The Asfiya qualifies as something of a hidden gem, but it is one of the resort’s best. Inside this unobtrusive building is a luxurious haven, built around a central courtyard of gardens and a pool. The standard rooms are excellent, but the private suites are simply the last word in private luxury, especially the two rooftop suites.
Kas
Kas is a particular highlight for scuba divers, but anyone can enjoy the beautiful scenery and laid back atmosphere of this lovely Turkish resort. The Villa Hotel Tamara is the pick of the accommodation here, with breathtaking coastal views, enormous suites, and excellent, attentive service.
Istanbul
The vibrant, multi-cultural city of Istanbul is an essential place to visit, and it is naturally home to the very best luxury hotels Turkey can give you. Choosing just one out of the many five star hotels is a hard thing to do, but the Ciragan Palace Kempinski stands out from the crowd. Once a home for the Ottoman Sultans and located right on the edge of the Bosphorus, this superb hotel offers stunning accommodation in a perfect location. With an expansive pool, private gardens, luxury spa, and one of the finest restaurants in Istanbul all located in the grounds, this is a luxury experience that you’ll never forget.
Kaya Valley
Only a short distance from the coast but providing a much more peaceful and secluded atmosphere, the beautiful Kaya Valley is the place to go for a truly relaxing retreat. Located only a stone’s throw away from the abandoned ‘ghost town’ of Kaya, the Doga Apartments provide one of the best accommodation options in the valley. The friendly service of the hosts is second to none, and each of the six apartments is tastefully decorated, with a shared pool, numerous local walking paths and wonderful views of the valley completing the experience.
Cappadocia
If you want to be adventurous on your Turkish holiday, Cappadocia is the place to be. From horse riding and cycling to hot air balooning and hiking, this land of caves and mountains is truly one of Turkey’s natural wonders. Matching the extraordinary landscape is the Cappadocia Cave Resort and Spa. Built into the slopes of a hill and featuring extraordinarily luxurious facilities, it is simply one of the finest luxury hotels Turkey has ever seen.

What time of day is best for a hot air balloon ride?
Im setting up a day for a hot air balloon ride for my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend. Im going to the one in Temecula, California. which one is most breathtaking? sunrise or sunset? I know that sunset is the obvious choice but what happens when the sun finaly sets? you cant see crap lol..well i may be wrong but thats what i keep thinking. and sunrise is beautiful too and you can see whats under you. please help!!! Thanks.
Sunrise is better because you can spend the rest of your day talking about it afterward.
Like you said you have no control over it so relax and enjoy the ride. Just don’t puke on her from motion sickness..that might not go over so well. Just a thought
Hot Air Ballooning over Melbourne and the Yarra Valley
How fast is the balloon rising at the moment using related rates?
A hot air balloon is rising straight up from a level field. It is tracked by a range finder 500 ft from the lift off point. At that moment, the range finder’s elevation angle is pi/4 . The angle is increasing at the rate of 0.14 rad/sec. How fast is the balloon rising at the moment?
Hello,
Let h equal the height of the ballon. Then let theta be the angle at the range finder to the ballon.
So Tan (Theta) = h/500. Now let’s take the derivative thus:
Sec^2 (Theta) (DTHETA/DT)= (1/500) dh/dt
Solving for dh/dt and putting in 0.14 for dTheta/dt gives us: dh/dt = 500 Sec^2(Theta) *0.14 ir Now put in pi/4 for Theta thus: dh/dt = 500 *2*0.14 = 140 ft/sec.
